#376; Benefit Roller Lash Mascara

Oh my! Aren't we on a roll this month with two Benefit mascara reviews?

Today's blog post will be on the newly launched Benefit Roller Lash mascara which was highly raved by bloggers/social media influencers and of course, by Benefit themselves.
All the claims of having long curly lashes without the need of eyelash curlers really got me hyped up for the launch of this mascara. Of course, I had to do a Google search to see if this is worth the bucks and what I've seen so far is good but there are some people which claimed this didn't work for them.

It made me worry if this product was worth the trip to Sephora and the potential SGD$37 that I would be parting with, but I thought "anything for the blog!" and managed to grab myself one of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara from Carousell at SGD$28 before the official launch date. Awesome.

The Benefit Roller Lash mascara came packaged in a really cute cardboard box that featured a statistics of how good the mascara works. I for one, am drawn to the colors used for this product! Featuring light pink and peach and a beautiful cursive script, the Roller Lash mascara scored brownie points with me for its use of my favorite colors and visually appealing letterings.

Not seen here is the sides of the box, where there are shiny stars adorning a black background. The whole product exudes a Marilyn Monroe feel.

The Benefit Roller Lash mascara itself, was packaged in a sturdy black and pink tube. The cap of the tube reminds me of vintage hair curlers, which was where Benefit drew their inspiration for this product from.

Across the sleek tube was the same cursive script in a rose color that stood out against the black.
This is a mascara that you would want to whip out and apply in public because this is the design is so unique and pretty!

I had to whip out my beloved lace doily for this.
The vintage-looking mascara is too precious.

A closer look at the brush is where the magic of Benefit's claims are. The "no curlers" brush is actually made out of hard bristles that hook 'n' roll your lashes to curled perfection while the formula was touted to hold the curl for as long as 12 hours!

A closer look at the information on the brush and the formula.
And yes, the brush is truly pink!!

I got this last week and after reading through the reviews, I was looking forward to this. However, I had to prepare for an exam and could only start using this two days later. Imagine the agony!
Of course by then, I had set quite a high expectation for the Benefit Roller Lash mascara.

On my naked eyelashes, like the previous review, I decided to just apply eyeshadow so you can better see the effects of the mascara.
Notice how straight my lashes are? And yes, my lashes are a little fuller with the constant use of Avance Lash Serum!

Here is a coat of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara on the left.
Can you say oh.em.gee.
Look at how long and evident the lashes are. I love how natural looking this is, without being too overly dramatic. I also did a coat on my lower lashes and they went from zero to hundred, in an instant.

Eyes closed. Notice the difference between the two?
And if you are wondering if the claims of never needing an eyelash curler is true?
Yes it is. I mean my lashes are stubbornly straight and I tried curling them before application in another trial test and they did nothing much to improve my straight lashes ._.

The Benefit Roller Lash mascara wand does help to curl my lashes but in a natural and subtle way. And... ILOVEIT!
Although I was hoping it would actually curl my lashes more, but this is good enough for using just a wand! Like other mascara couldn't do shit for my lashes.

An uncomfortably close up shot of my eye. I find this formula less clumpy than Benefit They're Real mascara. However, I will do a more in-depth comparison between the two in another post.

I for one find that the clumping is due to the brush. Notice how the tip of the Benefit Roller Lash mascara does not have bristles to grab onto your lashes? This tip is also a culprit for picking up too much of the mascara formula and formed said clumps.
One coat is more than enough. However, if you were to go through your lashes with another coat of mascara, clumps will form on your lashes.

With eyeliner and a coat of Benefit Roller Lash mascara on both eyes.
I know it is self-praise but I love how mesmerizing my eyes are :x
The mascara elongates and slightly volumizes my straight and short lashes.

From afar, you can make out my lashes.
Even Chubby Cheeks commented on my lashes without me needing to prompt him. Hur.

If you are wondering if this mascara works on oily lids, no worry! This is waterproof and frankly pretty oil proof. I gotten some mascara on my bed sheets and tried using an oil-based remover. Stubborn stains stayed on and they are still there. Oh my.

When my eyes are closed like I didn't even have to zoom in to see my lashes.
Over primer these lashes become superpower. They not only continue to hold the curls as claimed but they don't smudge as much. In fact, I had minimal smudging after having them on during a hard session of cardio so...

Eye make for the day
Featuring Naked 3 palette x Colourpop Drift.
To do this look I didn't use an eyeliner, only eyeshadows!

One last selfie to compensate for the overwhelming number of eyes in this post.

Overall, I rate the Benefit Roller Lash mascara a 9/10.
This is almost perfect and I took a point off for the clumping and the fact that it didn't bring my lashes to super curly proportions.
However, the claims that you can say buh-bye to eyelash curler is true for this particular mascara.

What do you think of them? Will you lay your hands on the Benefit Roller Lash mascara retailing for SGD$37 at Sephora?

I know I am planning to repurchase them for hoarding purposes :x
As stated, I purchased these on my own and my reviews are based on my honest opinions. As always, what works for me, might not work for everybody because everyone is special!
