#406; NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha

In my obsession to find a cheaper alternatives to the MUFE Aquamatic or the Marc Jacobs Twinkle pop, I stumbled upon the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil.
This is an eyeshadow in a pencil form similar to the concepts behind their pricier relatives.

This costs me only SGD$9 from Sephora.

There is a wide range of Jumbo Eye Pencil to choose from, to be precised 32 shades.
However, different outlets of Sephora stock different shades and the only one that appealed to me from the store I went to, was the shade Iced Mocha.

This is 5g and comes packaged in a plain white pencil form with a transparent cap. Not the most wow packaging out there, but for the price point, I am not complaining.
I also like the shade french fries but I can't find it anywhere ._.

The application is straight forward with a blunt pencil tip. This ensures that you can get color into the inner corner of your eyes. However, the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil requires sharpening as it is not a twist-up shadow pencil. Due to the awkward "jumbo" size, you will also need to buy a sharpener specifically for this product.

If you are on a shoestring budget like me, just grab a sharpener or pen knife and sharpen it manually. Does the job find and reduces wastage, but be warned that you product may not be so picture worthy after you are done!

The shade is a taupe shimmery bronze perfect for an everyday look.
Under this lighting it almost looks like smog from Urban Decay Naked palette.
It applies very easily as it has a cream consistency.

Obviously, we are going to use an eyeliner over it.
It isn't obvious here but over the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha, the eyeliner is less prominent.

I also realise that it does not dry matte like normal eyeshadow. Instead it has a very tacky consistency, almost similar to the UD Primer consistency. Which explains why the eyeliner might be less prominent over the jumbo eye pencil.

I tried wearing it over primer for one eye and one without. I labelled them accordingly above, and wore them out in the hot and humid weather.

This is taken after 4 hours of wear on the eye without primer. Note that the eyeliner is faded and there is a little fallout. The tackiness of the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced Mocha, is still present and transfers easily onto my fingers when I touch my lids.

This side is on top of primer and the eyeliner is prominent. This side is less tacky and transfers less easily on to my fingers.
I find that both side has equal amounts of product, but the Iced Mocha color is faded on both. Be it with or without the primer.

Overall, the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Iced mocha is a very pretty and wearable shade for an everyday look. The application is simple and straightforward. It is also easy to create extra depths and dimensions with this because I think the tip makes for a very nice cut crease shadow look.

That being said, I don't like how this is tacky and still remains so after so many hours of wear. It is more suitable as a base for your brown shadows. The packaging is simple although dirties really easily because the shadow tend to smudge on the pencil itself.

I wouldn't repurchase this again even though the shades are gorgeous.
I am not disheartened by this short venture into eyeshadow in a stick, and am aiming slightly pricier ones, mainly the Sephora House Brand!

Overall, I'd rate this a 4/10.
However, I will try to use this in slightly less humid weather in hopes that it will be less tacky and create lesser fall outs.
