#438; [Review] Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Fascinante

Hello Lovelies!
Today I will be reviewing a high end makeup product - the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick in La Fascinante. This was a splurge because I had some Takashimaya vouchers on hand. This costs SGD$48 and is much more pricier than a MAC lipstick. The whole packaging is extremely luxurious in black and gold.

With the Chanel Rouge Allure range, you are really paying for packaging and brand. The lipstick comes in a slick lacquered tube. It feels very solid and sleek and you have to press the gold part of the lipstick to sort of "push" it up. It has this spring mechanism inside.

The bottom of the lipstick is embossed with the ever famous Chanel logo and I find the whole branding very subtle and classy. The lipstick packaging is square and not the normal round tube.

The Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Fascinante is a beautiful matte red with blue undertone. It brightens up your complexion and looks beautiful on most skintone. I realise that I didn't have any swatches of the lipstick but you can see them on my lips later on in the post.

The lipstick also has the letterings "Chanel" stamped on it and has a nice subtle scent that I cannot name. I guess it smells a bit powdery and not overpowering and unpleasant. The lipstick bullet is not pointed and is instead flat and more curved. I find this a little harder to work with because it means I cannot reach into the inner corner of my lips for that nice and precise application.

This is how it looks like on my very very pigmented lips.
The La Fascinante is a beautiful red and applies on slightly sheer but still pigmented. Because of its consistency, you can choose to build it up to a bright red finish or go sheer for that slightly flushed look. Either way, this shade is great for day to night look.

It applies smoothly with not much tugging to get the lipstick to go on my lips.

I prefer my lipstick on the pigmented side so I will usually use two coats to get a bright and even finish. This makes my cooler skintone much more brighter. Because it is a matte lipstick, it lasts pretty long but cannot be compared to matte liquid lipstick. This leaves a pretty raspberry stain on my lips after a light/medium meal and that is already pretty impressive.

As to whether it is worth the SGD$48 I've paid?
It is a very luxurious splurge. The packaging and branding is something you are paying for but the consistency and colour is nothing really special. If you are looking to spend some serious cash on your lipstick and love the brand and packaging, then get yourself one of the Rouge Allure Velvet shades. Otherwise, this shade seems easily dupeable from other brands that are much more affordable and in the SGD$30 and below range.

I wouldn't repurchase this again BUT I might if I have some extra cash to spend and want to just pamper myself.
