#442; [Review] NYX HD Blush in Summer and Pink the Town

I'm back with a new post! After countless of lipstick and eyeshadow review, I finally get around to doing blush. I'll however preface this by saying that my swatch on my face are not very obvious because of my camera and I didn't want to look like an "Ang ku kueh" (red cake) for it to show up.

I recently hauled two new High Definition blush from NYX. They've really stepped up their game and I actually also bought their Ombre blusher and have already reviewed them here

I got two High Definition Blush from the latest collection in the shade: Summer and Pink the Town. These are $11 for a pan of 4.5g which is pretty worth the price!

First off, the packaging is super cute. There is a black ribbon on the clasp and a clear circular window that shows the shade of the blusher. These are sleek and compact and doesn't take up much space, making it easy to store and carry around.

Pink the town on the left and Summer on the right.
These do not have any embossing or design on the blush pan. The pans are also pretty sizeable, making it easy to swirl your brush to pick up product.

Let's start off with Summer.
The NYX HD Blush in Summer was an impulsive buy off Sephora webstore because I wanted to fulfill the minimum spending for free shipping.
I wanted a colour that I didn't have so I chose this bright coral with more reddish undertone. For fair to medium skin, this is so pigmented and too red for my liking.

The bottom swatch is one swipe and the one on top is two swipe. One Swipe is pigmented enough and as a blush, maybe a tad too pigmented for my liking. I have to use a very light hand when swirling my brush around the pan. It looks coral here but has more red undertones in real life.

Not sure if you can see it but when applied with a light hand, it gives a pretty subtle blush that last eight hours even in the humid weather. You must however, keep blending it with powder if you happen to pick up and use too much product.

The blush on my right cheek is more prominent and is pretty much how it looks like in person. It is pretty hard to tell online but I would say that the blush is true to that of the pan so if you love bright blushers or have a good tan, this is a suitable blush for you. Personally, I don't much like how it looks on my skin tone and the fact that I may forget and use too much product.

Saving the best for the last, here is the second NYX HD blush that I bought in the shade "Pink the town". I bought this because I thought I'd play safe and also because I refuse to give up on the HD blush even after my so-so experience with the above blusher. I wanted a nice rose peach blush that looks elegant and will suit my day to day makeup. Also, the formulation of the HD blush are too good to give up as both blushers are very smooth and finely milled.

Did I also mention that they are pigmented? Because they are pigmented like cray.

Bottom swatch is one swipe and top swatch is two. I like the soft rose blush because it is very neutral yet pulls together your whole look. In terms of pigmentation, these are already pretty pigmented but perhaps less so than Summer. I think this might be due to the pigments in the blush or the fact that my skin tone on my arm is darker than my face and will take a little more product to build up colour.

Again, these are smooth and blends well.

Application is simple and easy and the colour shows up well on my cheeks. I love the subtle blush effect that this gives me because it looks very classy and can complement a whole range of looks from nude lips, red lips to bold eyes and "no makeup" makeup.

The full face. Although it doesn't show up in my selfie, this blush actually looks really pretty in person and you have to actually really test out these shades to fall in love with them.

Lesson learnt: Swatch at Sephora before buying online. I would definitely repurchase Pink the Town once I hit the pan but I think that is some time away considering I have so many other blushers to go through..

Which NYX HD blush featured in this post is your favourite? I know the NYX HD blush also has this taupe brown shade that is perfect for contouring and I would love to test it out. If you guys are interested, leave me a comment and I might actually buy it and try~
